Job Fair * Emerson

We've done a few things besides work on the house. We went to a job fair for kids. They got to explore all kinds of careers. Jake Garn, a former astronaut who became a senator, was there.

They talked to a florist, and got to pick out a flower to take home. There was also a baker who gave out cookies, a horticulturist who gave out plants, a librarian, photographer, computer science guy, some ballet dancers... and on and on.

And we got to meet Paul Cardall. He played some songs for us.

For Labor Day Jason & family came to visit, and brought a new bundle for me to photograph. We now have lots of room to roam, so it was great to just let everyone explore outside.

Near the end of their visit, the girls finally got brave enough to hold the little guy.

I thought I was going to have some before & after pics of the house to post (for those getting a little impatient), but the master bedroom is taking longer than planned. Brandon is not very happy with doors.

We had another service auction here in our new ward. It was just as much fun, but you could tell the donations were from a different crowd. Less junk food, and a lot more homemade items and crafty things.

I had another lady bring me a big bag of produce from her garden -- knowing that I don't have my own just yet. There were a lot of cucumbers in it, plus I had some from another lady who had brought me stuff. We don't use a lot of cucumbers, so I thought I better make some more relish with them. I went to the store this morning to get the other ingredients I'd need to make it, when I ran into the lady who had just given me all the food. I told her I was making relish with her cucumbers. I wasn't home more than an hour when she showed up back on my doorsteps, with a bag FULL of cucumbers! She thought she hadn't given me enough to make relish with. Maybe my family better learn to like pickles. I'm not sure what else to do with them!
